I want to start by first telling you what this isn't about:
- This isn't about holding my sister entrepreneurs back & convincing "you" that there's a better (free) way to get the results they want you to pay for so they can earn a living. I am 100% supportive of entrepreneurship ESPECIALLY in my fellow lady hustlers. Girls - I'm on your side, I'm in your challenge groups & I shop your "brand". Go 'head!
- This isn't about me knowing a single solitary thing about fitness, wellness, diet, or exercise. This is about me knowing what it's like to be overweight, tired, busy & cheap.
- This isn't about a bikini body, this isn't even about losing "the baby weight" (more on that later). This is about a battle with wellness (not weight loss) that has stretched out over my relatively short adulthood. This is about wanting to DO somethings, and a little about wanting to LOSE some things. But it's definitely not about a bikini.
- This isn't about a "told ya so". This isn't about me saying to all of my brothers and sisters of the church of overweight, tired, busy & cheap "Seeeeee! You're just LAZY. And you're not RESOURCEFUL. You could do it too if you were as smart, or as motivated as me." This is about me giving myself a talking to, about wanting to genuinely have it all, the way I define it and on my own terms. Without borrowing from an already limited "discretionary" fund, without selling myself and my husband on why this program is "worth it" (and lots of them are!), and without having to spend any more time away from my family or adding any more to the very delicate balance that is my family.
Now let me tell you a few more things this IS about:
- Resources. Maybe you like to go to the gym - GOOD! Go to the gym! I also like to go to the gym. But for many reasons (more on those later) it's just not in the cards these days. This is about the resources that are out there, FOR FREE, that if you curate a collection of them that you like, that work for you, will give you results. One quick note: some of these resources are intended to be online, on YouTube, on Pinterest, or wherever for FREE (Yay!) and some of them are not intended to be available for free. I'm not taking any responsibility for who put what where, all I'm sayin' is - they are OUT THERE people. For FREE! And I'll show you where.
- Test driving. I'm no pro. I'm no expert. I'm a lady that's tryin' stuff. I like some of it, and I don't like some of it. We may not like the same things, and that's ok. All I'm doing here is test driving & sharing my perspective. I'm also going to share where you can test drive for yourself. See the point right above this one for more on that.
- Really great music & how it makes me run & work SO much harder.
- Giving credit where credit is due to the efforts, the people and the programs that are out there, that are free, that are fun and can make a difference without making you pay. Pay if you want! I don't want. That's why this blog exists.
- Chronicling a journey back to wellness for myself & inviting whoever wants to join me to join me.
Ok! So here's the plan:
The first commitment I'm making is to 21 days of working out 5 days a week. My best girl's in on this commitment too. And here's the combo
Beginner Running: In particular I've chosen a Beginner Training for a 5K schedule.
Concentrated Resistance Training: There really isn't a "specific" area of my body I'm focused on. It's all way out of control. This is a full court press.
Cross training: Swimming & Biking mostly. Things I can do outside/at home/ in my neighborhood without spending any money (besides supplies) without having to juggle the added task of making it to the gym.
I'm already 4 days in, so I've got some good reviews, reactions & reflections to share.
This is the #FreeBody journey. For the people who want a piece of the #GetFit #FitMom #FitLife #EatClean #FlexFriday #TransformationTuesday culture we're living in without having to spend a dime.
Come on y'all...let's get free!
